Lotions vs Skin Care Creams

lady363 » 29 June 2009 » In Skin Care » No Comments

There is no dearth of skin care creams and lotions in the market. Name an ailment, and you will find hundreds of skin care creams, lotions and other products for it. As a result of ongoing research and due to ever increasing demand, the number of skin care products seems to be on the increase. Skin care lotions and skin care creams are the most popular forms in which these products are available, and there always seems to be a debate on which form is better?

Well, there is no definitive answer to this. It seems more like a matter of personal choice. However, greasy creams are surely less popular as compared to the non-greasy (or less greasy) ones. Since the application of skin care creams is easier, they seem to be preferred (over lotions) in cases where the skin care product is not to be removed immediately after application. So, skin care creams seem more popular as moisturisers than as cleansers or toners. For toners, lotions seem to be preferred over skin care creams. There are some skin care creams that acts as toners too, but generally the toners are available in liquid form only. For cleansing, lotions and skin care creams are equally popular; however, the tilt seems more towards lotions.

Creams are known to be most effective in keeping skin moist; hence, the most popular form of skin care creams is moisturisers. Due to the same reason, a lot of people tend to associate skin care creams with dry and sensitive skin. Though it is true to a certain extent, skin care creams are not used only for dry skin, they are also used for making products for oily skin e.g. vitamin A creams and sulphur creams that help reduce the rate of sebum production.

Skin care creams are also used for products that cater to skin disorders especially for disorders that require the application of product over a small localised area. This is again due to the fact that skin care creams are easier to apply (without wastage) on the affected area. However, in cases where skin needs to be washed using a medicine/product, lotion is a better choice. Mostly, the manufacturers too realize this fact, making it easier for you to choose between a lotion and a skin care cream

Eye-creams and anti-ageing creams are other examples where skin care cream is preferred over its lotion counterpart.

Whatever your choice be (cream or lotion), knowing how to use it effectively, is more important than anything else.

How Can Natural Skin Care Products Make A Difference?

lady363 » 28 June 2009 » In Skin Care » No Comments

Everyone is going natural, and who can blame them? The skin is one of the body’s most noticeable features. It is constantly exposed to chemicals and other harmful influences like UV rays and stress. The foods we put into our bodies can also influence the appearance of our skin. Since there are enough chemicals and negative influences affecting our skin, we should steer clear of chemical-based skin care products, and opt for a more natural approach. Here are some of the benefits of using natural skin care products:

1. No chemicals. Each day we are around chemicals that are used to clean, gas from vehicles, and some of us are even around cigarette smoke. These things are not good for our skin. Constant exposure to a variety of negative things can leave our skin looking aged, dry, cracked, and old. Natural products are chemical-free.

2. Natural skin care products treat the skin better than unnatural treatments do. Natural things like plants, fruits, herbs, etc., were put here to serve a purpose. It is a shame that some of us are still not taking advantage of these natural and plentiful benefits that are so readily available to us.

3. All natural skin care products possess healing properties that chemical-based skin care products do not. It is true that Mother Nature has given us all that we will ever need to take good care of our skin. Natural skin care products not only help to take care of your skin, they get down into the deeper layers of the skin to repair it and permanently heal it.

4. There are no allergic reactions. There is no eye redness, and no other forms of irritation to deal with. All of the man-made substances are absent, so there is no need to panic that you will be allergic to a natural skin care product.

5. Less use is needed. Since the products are genuine, there is no need to go back and constantly repair the damage done over and over again. All natural skin care products provide better quality, and the creams last longer when not being used.

6. Natural skin care products do not do additional damage to your skin. Chemical-based skin care products might appear to do some temporary repair to your skin, but over time, they are actually damaging your skin. This is what leads to the constant usage of chemical-based skin care products. Suppose that is how they keep their business going? They give you a little bit of repair, and a little bit of damage at the same time.

7. You do not have to worry about harmful substances getting down into your blood stream. It has been proven that over 60% of chemicals that we put on our skin get absorbed into our blood streams. When chemicals absorb into our blood stream through the skin, it heightens our chances of developing eczema, allergies, breakouts, oily skin, cancer, and other various illnesses. With natural skin care products, you know exactly what is going on your skin, and you do not have to worry about getting sick.

As you can see, the benefits of using natural skin care products definitely have the upper hand over unnatural skin care products. Natural skin care is readily available to us only if we choose to use it. The results that natural skin care products have on our skin are better and longer lasting. It is no wonder why they are becoming more and more popular. It is a huge relief to know that more people are actually taking the time out to switch to something better for their skin, and easier on their health. We need to be using something that our bodies are compatible with, not something that we are constantly going to be at odds with. All natural skin care products are the answer.

Why All Natural Skin Care? What’s Wrong With Your Skin Care?

lady363 » 27 June 2009 » In Skin Care » No Comments

Copyright (c) 2008 Phyllis Ekleberry

Have you heard of natural skin care products and cosmetics? Natural skin care products are safer to use, they work better, faster and with less complications as regular skin care and cosmetics. If you are still using cosmetics that are not all natural, then your health my be in grave danger! Let go of those products that have harmful chemicals and possible carcinogens in their formulas.

I know that you thinking that the U.S. government has put into place an agency that watches over the skin care and cosmetic industry. But, did you also know that this agency is poorly regulated and is given very broad outlines for what they enforce (or don’t enforce)?

Now that you know how poorly these companies are regulated, are you still sure that your skin care and cosmetics are safe? Are you willing to bet your life on it? Are you sure? If you have one, tiny doubt, then you need to read on.

With all the renewed efforts of the campaign for safe products, we have more choices than ever before when it comes to our all natural skin care and cosmetics. Did you relize that some companies say they are using natural ingredients while they don’t? How can you protect yourself from these harmful effects?

Protecting Yourself

Before continuing to use any makeup or skin care, you should check first to see if any hazardous or possible carcinogenic ingredients are included in the formula. Every company is required to list the all the ingredients that are in the product on the label. If you are concerned about your health or the health of your loved ones, then please check out the ingredients of your cosmetics and skin care – even the natural ones. Check to see if all the ingredients are on the safe list developed by the Safer Cosmetic Organization.

Safer Cosmetic Organization

This group has a free website for your protection. Over the years science has been good to us. They are constantly researching and testing all of the products we use on a daily basis. This website puts all of science and a great database at your finger tips. Some of the products you use are already in the database and others have not been included. After looking in Safer Cosmetics’ database you find that your skin care product is not listed; you will have to enter the listed ingredients on that products label to find out if they have added toxic chemicals to their formula.

After going to this site myself, I made the decision to throw away all the products I was using that had adverse effects. The makeup that I thought was good, safe and harmless, was rated 7. I was deeply troubled when I found out that my makeup contained harmful materials and possible carcinogens. I had been using a product on my skin (which absorbs over 60% of everything put on it) that included possible carcinogens and hazardous ingredients. Do I really want cancer? Not me. And, neither do you!

All Natural Skin Care Products and Cosmetics

Are you ready to make the switch to all natural cosmetics and skin care? These products are made with ingredients from nature. Most natural skin care products contain only phyto-collagen products. These phyto-collagen products are derived from plants and are the best products to use to combat acne, aging skin, skin allergies and rashes. They provide for a more radiant glow and tighter, firmer, more youthful skin.

All Natural Skin Care & Cosmetics for Problem Skin

If you are having problems with your skin, it could be the products that you are using. Try using all natural cosmetics and skin care and see if you can tell the difference. I am betting within two weeks, you will be able to see and feel the difference. I have found some products that actually improve the skin after just one application.

More Youthful Appearance

If you are interested in a more youthful appearance, then all natural cosmetics are the only route to take. And in addition to the youthful, baby soft skin you will achieve, you will be using skin care products that are totally safe and toxin free.

All Natural Skin Care and Cosmetics

There are many companies that offer natural cosmetics and skin care. Some products are better than others so read and research before you purchase them. Remember that plant based products are better and your skin absorbs them more readily. Another ingredient that you may want to look for is glycerin. Many things dissolve better in glycerin so the absorption rate is much higher.

Summary

After using natural cosmetics for a short time, I know that you too will be as impressed as I am. I have noticed a radiance and glow that was not on my face before. You will certainly reap wonderful, healthy benefits by going all natural!

Are You Searching for the Ultimate Anti Aging Skin Care Product?

lady363 » 26 June 2009 » In Anti Age » No Comments

As America gets older, we all begin searching for an anti aging skin care product that is something like that elusive fountain of youth.

For most of us that search ends, because we are dissatisfied with anti aging skin care products.

There are multitudes of beauty related items for sale and it seems as though everyone now carries an anti aging skin care product.

Some of them are good, some are bad, and still others do nothing at all.

Not all of the anti aging skin care products out there will perform as advertised, and not all contain the all natural ingredients that they claim to have.

Some may even contain harsh chemicals and abrasives in them which will cause more damage to your overall appearance than good.

When purchasing an anti aging skin care product, you need to know what to look for.

Always be sure to read the label carefully and be sure that you fully understand both the ingredients and their uses.

The educated consumer is the biggest thorn in the side of the con man trying to peddle his wares through falsehoods and deceptions.

Many manufacturers of anti aging skin care products will try to make them seem superior by including time familiar names that they are sure you’ll recognize.

An excellent example of that is the use of collagen as an ingredient.

What they won’t tell you is this.

Collagen is an absolutely useless inclusion in a topical anti aging skin care product, because collagen, of that type, cannot be absorbed through the skin.

One of the major problems with the companies in business today is that there is little to no real regulation about what they can claim that their creams can do.

Due to the fact that anti aging skin care products are topical and not ingestible, control of the industry doesn’t fall to the stringent Food and Drug Administration.

Regulation instead is enforced by the Federal Trade Commission

What this means is that regulation is only loosely enforced.

The Federal Trade Commission is slow to act unless someone complains officially to them.

This gives the manufacturer of an anti aging skin care product plenty of leeway in the things that they claim that their creams can do.

What are good anti aging skin care products supposed to do, anyway?

Well the basic goal is to attempt to stimulate the body’s natural production of collagen, elastin, and skin cells.

There is a natural substance currently being used which is extracted from the wool of certain varieties of sheep.

Another thing that you want is a an anti aging skin care product which contains strong anti-oxidants in order to destroy the free radicals created as a result of oxidative stress.

One company offers new anti aging skin care products that have adapted a form of CoEnzyme Q10, for this purpose, and are currently the only people on the market to have done so.

The goal of the average anti aging skin care product is to remove wrinkles, dryness, sagging  and discoloration brought on by time and wear.

Some are simply better at it than others.  Be knowledgeable, and be wary in your search.

Organic or Natural Skin Care Products – what’s the difference?

lady363 » 24 June 2009 » In Skin Care » No Comments

Today more and more people are becoming aware of the benefits nature has to offer and are seeking environmentally friendly products in their homes and in their skin care regimen. Therefore, it is no surprise that skin care manufacturers are catering to this wave of eco-friendly consumers and labeling products natural and/or organic.

The words natural and organic are interpreted and implied as the same meaning, however, there are distinct differences between the two.

Natural – this implies that one, some, or all of the ingredients are unprocessed and comes from nature, such as fruits, vitamins and minerals for instance; Aloe Vera is a natural product thus a product with Aloe Vera could be labeled natural. However, that does not mean the natural ingredient was grown organically and it does not mean that the skin care product is not mixed with synthetic/chemical ingredients. The term natural is not regulated in the skin care industry so the term natural is used loosely and extensively in marketing ploys.

Organic – means that no chemicals or pesticides were used during the growth of various plants and herbs. Additionally, the processes to extract the various oils from the plant did not use any type of chemical processing.  If a product with Aloe Vera in it is labeled organic, then the Aloe would have had to been grown without any type of pesticides and there would be no chemical processing to extract the oils from the plant.  Thus the product could be labeled organic.

A good analogy would be a skin care product which lists papaya and Aloe Vera. If the papaya, and Aloe Vera were grown with any type of pesticides then the skin care product can not be labeled organic, however, it could be labeled all natural and still can contain harmful chemicals.

Additionally, just because a product is labeled natural or organic that does not mean you will not have an allergic reaction. A product made with beeswax or honey would not be recommended for people that are allergic to bees, a product with almond oil would not be recommended for people with nut allergies. A skin test is always recommended with any new skin care product whether it be a synthetic, natural or organic product.

The word botanical is used a lot in skin care products too. This implies that the product includes ingredients that are derived from plants and/or trees, such as Aloe Vera and coconut. Again, botanical products can be labeled as natural but does not mean they are also organic.

Currently there are no legal standards for the terms organic and/or natural for personal care products sold in the United States. Therefore, skin care manufacturers are allowed to make all kinds of claims that their products are pure, natural and/or organic. A case in point is Clairol Herbal Essences which gave users an “organic experience”, however there isn’t much about this product that is herbal or organic as it contains more than a dozen synthetic petrochemicals and has a moderate toxicity rating. Visit Campaign for Safe Cosmetics on the web to read more about your skin care products.

The skin care product industry is a billion dollar business and the claims they make concerning their products may or may not be true. Additionally, if you are paying top dollar for cosmetics that read pure, natural or organic, read the label, research and decide for yourself. The most prominent ingredient on the label will be at the top of the ingredient list and the least ingredient at the bottom. So if your natural or organic ingredient is at the bottom of the ingredient list chances are the amount in the product is minute and has no significant value for your skin.

As a personal note, I would like to state that I do believe in the natural and organic concept in skin care products, although if I am buying natural or organic products I expect them to be just, natural with safe synthetic chemicals or truly organic. There are so many chemicals in skin care products that can be harmful to your health and these chemicals are so detrimental to our environment so I read the labels and do the research to find some “green” in the products I use.

Anti Aging Skin Care Products, What Every Consumer Should Know

lady363 » 20 June 2009 » In Anti Age » No Comments

In order for an anti aging skin care product to be effective and safe, manufacturers must use care when choosing ingredients.  Most anti aging skin care products do not perform as they should.  And, cosmetic companies seem to forget that our skin is more delicate as we age.  So, they include harsh ingredients and chemicals that can increase, rather than decrease the damage that has been done by the years.

It really scares me to think that anyone would buy an anti aging skin care product from HSN or QVC.  There is absolutely no way to know what those anti aging skin care products contain.  People learn the hard way.

If you read some of the reviews, you will see that there are numerous adverse reactions.  In many cases, the lips, eyes and face are drier and look no better than before.  And, anti aging skin care products are not cheap, so it’s not like you can afford to just try something else.

But, you are going to be an informed consumer.  We are going to tell you what ingredients to look for, as well as those to be avoided.  Let’s start with collagen.

An anti aging skin care product that contains collagen fiber is worthless.  The stuff was derived from cow hide and designed to be used by surgeons who inject it into the lowest of the skin’s layers.  There it acts like air or water in a balloon and stretches out the wrinkles and fine lines.  It only lasts for a while.  It is not replacing your body’s own collagen fibers.  It’s actually replacing some of the fat cells that are lost in that lowest layer as you age.

Now let’s look at alcohol.  Most anti aging skin care products contain ethanol, ethyl, methanol, benzyl or isopropyl alcohol.  What’s wrong with it?  It dries up natural oils, which are in short supply in older faces.  That’s one of the problems that cause wrinkles and fine lines in the first place, a loss of natural oil.

Then there are all of the ingredients that are either known to cause cancer or suspected to.  If an anti aging skin care product contains any of the following, you would be better off to leave it on the shelf.  They are parabens, diethanolamine, monoethanolamine, triethananolamine or the abbreviations DEA, MEA and TEA and dioxane.  In many countries around the world, these are either banned or restricted.  But, so far, the United States has decided to allow their presence in cosmetics.

It is illogical, when you think about it, because everything that your rub on your face is absorbed through your pores and enters your blood stream.  But, let’s move on to what you do want in your anti aging skin care products.

Cynergy TK, an anti aging skin care product containing a patented form of keratin, has been shown in clinical trials to help your body produce more of its own collagen fibers, as well as elastin and new skin-cells.  Wakame, a specific type of Japanese sea algae, has proven results that are similar to these.

By increasing levels of hyaluronic acid, it improves elasticity while reducing bags, dryness and irritation.  In other words, anti aging skin care products that contain wakame “heal” the damage done by sun and the elements.

Nano-lipobelle H EQ10 is an emulsion containing vitamin E and the nutrient COQ10.  As an anti aging skin care product, it has been shown to penetrate multiple skin-layers and soak up free radicals, which are produced when the body is exposed to sun, pollutants and even oxygen.  The ingredient has been shown to improve appearance and generate a healthy glow.

Stearyl or cetearyl wax allows your skin to retain more moisture throughout the day.  It also creates an ultrafine coating that protects your face from further damage.

It is hard to find anti aging skin care products that contain all of these ingredients.  But, it is worth your time to look for them, if you want something safe and effective.

Unique Anti-aging Skin Care Products

lady363 » 19 June 2009 » In Skin Care » No Comments

Mature skin requires special skin care products, great anti-aging items, and extra time spent caring for it. If you learn how to take care of mature skin, you will find that the outcome is glowing skin that looks ten years younger.

Did you know that skin begins to age after you turn 25? Scary thought, isn’t it? After the age of 25, your skin starts to create less estrogen. Eventually, the ability your skin once had to retain moisture also starts to dissipate. The rate at which your skin begins to age depends on many different factors including genetic and health factors. Still, you can care for your skin properly if you just know how.

You can’t stop the hands of time altogether, but you can certainly slow them down by making sure that you follow a few simple rules. Aside from drinking plenty of water, watching what you eat, getting a good amount of sleep, and protecting your skin from the sun, your mature skin will also need some.

Anti-aging product ingredients to look for include proteins, antioxidants, collagen, and other natural nutrients that will nourish and replenish the skin. As you grow old, you will also find that your skin begins to change. It is completely normal that your skin changes throughout your life, but this process will mean that you also have to change your current skin care products.

There are lots of anti-aging products on the market right now. The problem is that a lot of them aren’t really good for your skin at all. In fact, many of them contain ingredients that are harmful to aging skin. Look for those products that contain natural ingredients, plenty of nutrients, and essential collagen. In order to nourish your mature skin, you will need to provide it with plenty of great skin care products. Still, this isn’t quite enough.

Take the time to learn about proper nutrition habits. The more you know about nutrition, the better off your skin will be. You see, skin care really works from the inside out…as well as from the outside in. This means that you will have to feed the inside of your body properly in order to see the results on the outside of your body.

Leant to exercise, eat well, and drink plenty of water. Also, learn how to go through a complete skin care routine every day. You will find that you need to change your skin care products to suit your mature skin. Finding better anti-aging products is merely part of growing older…thankfully, great products can also help you to look younger.

Your skin will age naturally as you grow older. However, you don’t have to deal with tight skin, tiny lines, and sagging eyes. Remember that mature skin requires lots of different anti-aging skin care products that contain all of the nutrients listed above. You only have one shot at taking care of your skin, so why not give it your best try?

All Natural Skin Care Products – Find the Healthiest Cream For Your Skin Today!

lady363 » 12 June 2009 » In Skin Care » No Comments

There are many ways to repair skin damage and maintain its youthful appearance. It could be as simple as following basic skin care, avoiding those that lead to skin damage and finding all natural skin care products ideal for your type of skin. The problem, however, is that there are so many different creams and skin care products out there. Skin care tips are sometimes contradictory that the once simple solution to skin damage became more baffling.

There is no best cream for everyone but there is such a thing as healthiest cream for your skin. This is because people’s skin type differs. Some are oilier while some are drier. Some are more tolerant of the sun’s rays while some are more sensitive. A person’s lifestyle should also dictate on which cream to purchase. This is because people can be exposed to different triggers that cause free radicals. This means that all natural skin care products you have to purchase should focus on protection your skin needs the most.

The first thing one has to consider when buying the healthiest cream is its protection against the sun. Long exposure to the sun has been long proven to lead to skin damage that sunscreen is one of the best bets for choosing one. Being exposed to the sun for long hours has many consequences including sun spots, discoloration, dryness and wrinkles.

The condition of the skin will inevitably deteriorate with time but it can be slowed down with apt skin regimen and all natural skin care products. There are a few components that your cream has to have to guarantee that it would help you keep that youthful glow. The first one is antioxidants. Free radicals lead to oxidation which has been considered to be a culprit in the process of skin aging. Antioxidants, such as vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin E have been known to kill free radicals and keep the cells of the skin healthy. Having these ingredients in your skin care products would definitely prove to be beneficial.

Products with water and oil need preservatives to prevent bacterial growth after they are opened. Most skin care products contain preservatives, such as quaternium-15 and imidazolidynyl urea, that sometimes cause skin irritation. For people who have skin reactions from these preservatives, it is best to resort to all natural skin care products.

Another main consideration is the moisturizing properties of the cream. Moisturizers, in all natural skin care products, can hold water in the outermost layer of skin. Aside from that, they also act as a temporary barrier that allows damaged cells of the skin to be repaired on their own. Again, it all depends on the type of your skin. For normal to oily skin, water-based moisturizers are best to avoid that greasy feeling. On the other hand, those with dry skin and mature skin may need more moisturizing components that it has to be oil-based.

It is not enough to use the cream that suits your skin best. You still have follow a basic skin care regimen and avoid other factors that lead to skin damage. A multi-level strategy might just do wonders for skin repair and its maintenance. Having a well-balanced diet and having a healthy lifestyle can also improve the condition of your skin.

Unique Men’s Skin Care Products

lady363 » 11 June 2009 » In Skin Care » No Comments

Women seem to have the beauty industry covered. Most skin care articles are about women, most products cater to women, and most tips can only be applied to women – what about men?

Men have begun to take an interest in their skin lately. Most men’s products are popping up in stores across the country, and men are beginning to realize that proper skin care is important. While men are less likely to spend hours fussing over their skin, it is still important to realize that preventing aging is possible.

While it’s true that most men don’t think about aging as much as women do, getting older is still a fact of life. So, if you happen to be a man that wants to take care of his skin, you have come to the right place. Men’s skin care begins with something that is true for women as well: stay away from the sun and avoid sunburns.

Men should wear sunscreen on a regular basis just as women should. In fact, every single human on earth should wear sunscreen. Additionally, it is important to avoid getting any kind of sunburn. This can often happen on a cloudy day when the sun isn’t that strong – even though you may not be able to see the sun, it will still burn you if you are not careful. Sunburns can cause skin to age quickly.

Many men also have a problem with oily skin. If you happen to have oily skin, the right skin care routine is crucial. For oily skin, follow these tips:

·         Wash your skin day and night with the proper cleanser

·         Use a toner that will pick up dirt and oil that your cleanser has left behind

·         Don’t forget to moisturize – even oily skin needs moisturizer

Aside from staying out of the sun and taking care of oily skin, men should also be careful about the type of shaving cream that they use. Some creams will cause the skin to product small red bumps, burn, and nick quickly. Using a glycerine based shaving gel will prevent skin irritation. Also, make sure to complete your shaving job with a proper moisturizer or aftershave balm – do not use alcohol based aftershaves!

Another great men’s skin care tip is to visit a spa for a facial. Now, most men may not like the idea of getting a facial, but there is a method to this madness…promise. You see, when you get a facial, a beauty expert will be able to tell you what kind of skin you have. Knowing what kind of skin you have will allow you to purchase the right kinds of skin care products.

Half the battle to great skin care is knowing a lot about your skin. Find out what kind of skin you have, how to care for it, and what to do to avoid those little inconsistencies. While it’s highly unlikely that you will become a skin care expert, you can start to prevent aging by working with the skin that you have.

Many men may not know that much about skin care. However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t learn. If you want your skin to stay young, look great, and attract the opposite sex, it’s important that you care for your skin every day.
